Tanacetum vulgare is a perennial herb 40 cm to 1.5 m tall, hairless, coarse, colonial from a stout rhizome, aromatic.
Leaves alternate, pinnately dissected, margins toothed, blade 10-20 cm long, midrib (axis) winged.
Flowers yellow, 20-100, no rays, disk 0.5-1 cm wide; blooms Aug.-Oct.
Fruit dry.
Wetland status: NL.
Frequency in NYC: Very infrequent.
Origin: Europe.
Habitat: Escaped from cultivation into open sites.
