Geum vernum is a spring annual herb, 30-60 cm tall. Similar to above spp.

Leaves alternate. Pinnate. leaflet margins toothed, hairy.

Flowers yellow to white, petals 0.1-0.2 cm long, shorter than styles.

Fruit dry, in rounded heads. Achenes 0.2-0.3 cm long.Styles persistent as hooks.

Wetland status: FAC+.

 Frequency in NYC: Very infrequent.

Origin: Native.

Habitat: Dry woods.
