Diplotaxis muralis is an annual or biennial herb to 50 cm tall, from a taproot, stem branching from base, leafy only near base. 

Leaves alternate, narrow, often widest above middle, base narrowing to stalk, margin toothed to lobed.

Flowers yellow, 4-parted, petals to 1 cm long, sepals 0.5 cm, widest near top, narrowed to base, bloomsJune –Sept..

Fruit capsules linear, 2-parted to 4 x 0.2 cm on stalks to 3 cm long. 

Wetland status: UPL. 

Frequency in NYC: Very infrequent. 

Origin: Europe. 

Habitat: Open sandy soil, roadsides.
